Michael Donaldson


Michael has over 30 years of commercial expertise gained from working for best in class, blue-chip global companies in the: FMCG, domestic appliance, consumer durable, and jewellery sectors; some with turnover in the billions and profits in the millions. During his time at Cookson Precious Metals, he was a member of the UK and European Executive, and responsible for almost every commercial aspect of the business.

He has an extensive sales and marketing background is an innovative strategist, detailed implementer and experienced leader of multi-disciplined teams to deliver strategic, operational and behavioural change; including business exits, post-acquisition integration, company harmonisation and business growth.

The experience of having worked in different sectors highlighted three common challenges that he feels all Managers, Directors and Business Owners face - irrespective of the shape, size or sector of the organisation. How to improve:  the performance of their people; the profitability of their products; and the productivity of their processes.

In 2013 he started his own consultancy company “The Value Innovator” helping SME’s improve their performance; he is particularly well known in the jewellery industry for his facilitation of the NAJ’s JET Business Network for Independent Retail Jewellers.
