Support Programmes

IJL supports young jewellery designers through its initiatives KickStart and Bright Young Gems.

A commercial platform for ten flourishing UK designers. 2013 was it's fifth year, KickStart provides an excellent way for retailers and buyers to discover outstanding new designers as they launch. The bursary scheme is run by IJL and supported by the BJA, and the winning designers are selected as talent of the future.

10 KickStarters are selected each year to take part in the mentoring programme. After 10 KickStarters have been chosen, we give the industry the chance to vote for their favourite. The lucky winner will get a free stand in the Design Gallery at IJL 2015. By allowing retailers and the industry to vote for their favourite, IJL will continue to ensure the UK leads the way in terms of recognising the best and most innovative new jewellery stars.

The 10 2013 KickStarters are Anna Byers, Catherine Budd Jewellery, Annabelle Lucilla Jewellery, Christiana Christoforou, Jenny Llewellyn, Phoebe Jewellery, Katie Jamieson, Rosie Sanders, KATTRI and Sara Gunn.

The 2014 competition is now open!

2013 was it's eighth year, the Bright Young Gems initiative is well-known within the industry for unveiling future industry stars. It provides the designers with a unique commercial platform as they begin to establish their reputations for producing outstanding contemporary jewellery.

We take the initiative country wide and select our BYG's from Colleges across the UK in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Sheffield.

The initiative offers these exciting new jewellery designers the opportunity to showcase their work at IJL on a group stand in the Design Gallery and, in doing so, a chance to break into the commercial world and meet key retailers.
