Bright Young Gems

  • Our Bright Young Gems initiative is renowned industry-wide for unveiling future stars in the contemporary jewellery arena.

    This unique scheme provides four young designers with an outstanding commercial platform and excellent trade exposure.
    BYG’s are selected from final year students and students who have graduated from UK colleges and universities in the past two years by a prestigious judging panel - comprising Hilary Alexander OBE: Editor at Large, Hello! Fashion Monthly Magazine; Annabel Davidson: Editor of Vanity Fair on Jewellery; Alice Edwards Jewellery Editor for Sunday Times Style and The Times LUXX magazine. And introducingtwo new editions to the panel; Liza Urla, influencer and founder of Gemologue, and Henry Graham, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Wolf & Badger.

    We are also delighted to announce that The Benevolent Society will be providing each BYG winner with a £200 travel and accommodation grant!

  • Bright Young Gems 2018

    The winners of the 2018 Bright Young Gems programme have now been announced. The design stars of the future, these recent graduates will be showcasing their work at IJL 2018.   • How does it work?

    Bright Young Gems is the first phase of the IJL Journey.
    Bright Young Gems was launched in 2005 to highlight exceptional design talents at the student and graduate level. Applications are welcomed from across the UK and from all major UK colleges and jewellery courses.
    If you’re the best of the best, then Bright Young Gems is for you. Don’t believe us? Internationally famous ethical and Fairtrade jewellery designer, Pippa Small was one of our first Bright Young Gems.
