  • The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ)

    It was agreed by members of the BJA and N.A.G. to establish The National Association of Jewellers at a meeting on 16th June 2015. The association will lead, serve and represent the jewellery industry by promoting, protecting and providing for its members through offices in London and Birmingham, supported by both a strong internet presence and social media. We offer targeted industry-leading professional development and training and inspire consumer confidence to purchase from our members through a Code of Practice setting the highest standards of professionalism, honesty and ethical business practices. Our Coat of Arms is a Mark of Quality that our members will proudly display to build an enduring bond of trust with their consumers. The newly created NAJ will become the largest trade association member within The British Allied Trades Federation (BATF), where the BJA has thrived for many years.

  • Gemological Institute of America (GIA)

    An independent non-profit organisation, GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is recognised as the world's foremost authority in gemmology. Established in 1931, GIA has translated its expert knowledge into the most respected gemmological education available. Early in the 1950s, GIA invented the famous Four Cs of Colour, Cut, Clarity and Carat Weight. In 1953, the Institute created the International Diamond Grading System which, today, is recognised by virtually every professional jeweller in the world. Through research, education, gemmological laboratory services, and instrument development, the Institute is dedicated to ensuring the public trust in gems and jewellery by upholding the highest standards of integrity, academics, science, and professionalism. GIA London, a UK Registered Charity, is one of the network of campuses worldwide.  

  • The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A)

    The Gemmological Association of Great Britain, or Gem-A, is the world’s longest established provider of gem and jewellery education. The Association is the direct descendant of the gem course that was proposed for the jewellery trade at the 1908 annual meeting of the National Association of Goldsmiths of Great Britain and Ireland. Our prestigious Diploma in Gemmology and Gem Diamond Diploma have become globally recognized as invaluable qualifications, and diploma holders may apply for election to Fellowship (FGA) or Diamond Membership (DGA) of the Association. Gem-A currently forms an international community of gem professionals and enthusiasts. With our commitment to high educational standards, we serve the interests of the gem and jewellery industries and support gemmological research worldwide. In addition to our educational programmes, we provide gem testing laboratory services, membership opportunities, a shop for the purchasing of gemmological instruments and two internationally distributed publications, Gems & Jewellery and The Journal of Gemmology. We are committed to providing the highest standards of international gem education and research.  

  • The Houlden Group

    The Houlden Group is the UK and Ireland’s longest established jewellery and watch buying organisation. Its aim is to provide members with advice, services and support, ensuring they have the competitive edge to drive their business forward - making them Jewellers of Excellence. Established in 1975 by Stuart Laing who is also Managing Director of Laings of Glasgow, the Houlden Group has 32 members, representing 70 stores, with a combined turnover of £175 million. Although the Houlden Group is known as a significant trading consortium with substantial buying power, it is much more than that.   • The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG)

    The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths, is the umbrella under which you can find and make contact, with the most highly qualified independent crafts people in all disciplines. All Fellows are subjected to a thorough assessment before being accepted, some fail! These Fellows are available to assist you in the creation of fine jewellery, Objet D’art, Silverware, and whatever your imagination might create. Visit:
