International Jewellery London Returns to Olympia London, 1 - 3 September 2019

IJL 2019 will launch the IJL Watch District, host must-attend seminars, Workshop Live! and global awards.

International Jewellery London (IJL), the UK’s leading trade event for the international jewellery industry, will return to Olympia London from 1-3 September 2019 with an expanded watches feature, the IJL Watch District, bridal showcase and focus on retail.

Established in London in the 1950s, International Jewellery London (IJL) enjoys a heritage of showcasing the best of luxury materials, design and craftsmanship, and is the pre-eminent annual destination for the best of British fine jewellery, as well as leading brands from around the globe.

IJL takes pride in its emerging talent programmes and works with strategic partners to ensure that both new and established designers’ work is exhibited at Olympia in September each year, where trends are unveiled and the jewellery industry meets in the creative capital of the world. This year will see the 10th anniversary of IJL’s Kickstarter Awards and 15th anniversary of the influential Bright Young Gems. IJL plays a pivotal role in the jewellery sector, as both influencer and mentor to many in the industry.

Retail buyers from more than 70 countries rely upon IJL for the unique display of fine, bridal and demi-fine jewellery. Many of the show’s visitors have direct responsibility for introducing new brands and ranges to their businesses, in addition to bespoke purchasing.

  • IJL Watch District: Visitors to IJL in 2019 will have a great opportunity to shop for leading watch brands at the Watch District, in a premium location right at the front of the show. Featuring Watch brands such as Elliot Brown, as well as The British School of Watchmaking.
  • Bridal Showcase: This popular feature returns for the second year in the front of show and is supported by catwalk scenes celebrating bridal from Britain and beyond.
  • Retail Experience: Experts, exhibitors and seminars will underpin the focus on the role of retail in selling jewellery.
  • SS20 Trends Catwalk: The catwalk will give visitors an in-depth and comprehensive review of Spring/Summer 2020 jewellery trends, brought to you by leading international trend forecaster, Paola De Luca.
  • KickStart: In the awards 10th year, six up-and-coming designers selected by the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) and IJL, will have a unique opportunity to showcase their jewellery at IJL 2019 on a collective stand in the prestigious Design Gallery. With exposure to a trade audience of several thousand people and leading industry experts attending the show.
  • Bright Young Gems (BYG): BYGs are selected from final year students and students who have graduated from UK colleges and universities in the past two years by a prestigious judging panel of industry designers, journalists and experts. The winner in 2019 are Isla Gilham, Eloise Kramer, Lingjun Sun, Wen-Ju Tseng. They will be exhibiting in the Bright Young Gems showcase and speaking on the Inspiration Theatre on Monday 2 September at 2:30pm.
  • Awards: The inaugural International Leading Lights Awards are a collaboration between leading jewellery show IJL and respected publication Jewellery Outlook, which offer the opportunity of gaining recognition for contributions to a forward-looking global jewellery industry and recognising the best in international talent from across the jewellery industry. The winners will be showcased at IJL 2019 and beyond. The Awards have eight categories and they are specifically targeting those in the UK and international arena whose contribution to the world of jewellery should be showcased both in the UK and beyond. Entry deadline is 12 July 2019.
  • Uniquely UK: The popular exhibit and related content, which launched at IJL 2019, returns under the imprimatur of Goldsmiths Craft and Design Centre.
  • IJL Jeweller of the Fair: New for 2019 this exciting role will be announced in July.
  • Spotlight on…: Building on the success of the first in the IJL Spotlight series, Spotlight on Birmingham 2018, this focus on a jewellery centre of the UK returns in 2019 – announced in July.
  • Workshop Live!: The skills, craftsmanship and talent that goes into creating jewellery, will be taking centre stage at this year’s IJL with everything from setting and casting to original painting and high-end goldsmithing.
  • IJL Inspire Programme: From synthetic versus natural diamonds, to online versus high street, this year’s IJL Inspire Seminar Programme includes seminars and panel debates, opening the stage to discuss issues that matter and trends that shape jewellery and watches from across the industry.

    IJL 2018 welcomed 550 exhibitors from 50 countries including 15 new countries ranging from South Korea, Czech Republic, Peru and Colombia to Qatar and Sierra Leone. The Diamond Club, which hosts the biggest international buyers, saw attendance up by 60% on 2017, with new attendees in 2018 from Canada and Jersey.
