IJL 2010 set for success as new exhibitors are announced

Early forecasts for International Jewellery London, the only dedicated UK jewellery trade event, are looking promising for 2010, with new designers and brands set to create a buzz. They will join top names who are returning to the show following the success of last year’s IJL, which drew record breaking attendance.

Buyers and retailers are making IJL a vital date in their diary as it provides a unique chance to view so many stylish fine and design jewellery products at one event. Several initiatives will be returning for 2010 following the enthusiastic response they received when they were launched at last year’s show. These include the KickStart stand, showcasing fresh upcoming talent, and the prestigious VIP Diamond Club for top buyers and participants from leading retail jewellers throughout the UK, as nominated by the IJL Advisory Board. The Editor’s Choice will also provide a valuable snapshot of the latest trends and groundbreaking exhibitors to watch out for, as selected by leading jewellery and luxury journalist Claire Adler.

“Everyone we speak to is already getting excited about the 2010 show. IJL is an excellent environment in which to do business and make valuable industry contacts, and each year the show goes from strength to strength” commented event manager, Syreeta Tranfield.

Shiny and new...

Brand new exhibitor Carrie Elspeth has been announced as one to watch for 2010: “We are really delighted to be exhibiting at IJL for the first time this September. I can’t think of a better way to showcase the new Autumn Opulence Collection,” commented creative director Carrie Shapiro, “Opulence is aside from the mainstream Carrie Elspeth range. It’s a limited edition collection of indulgent designs using extravagant beads and sterling silver, all beautifully packaged.”

Contemporary jewellery from award-winning Gracie J will also be displayed for the first time at IJL 2010: “A number of previous exhibitors have spoken highly of this jewellery-specific trade event suggesting that they believe my out-of-the-ordinary, distinctive designs (using ceramic beads dipped in silver and threaded onto leather) would be something that retailers to the show would be very keen to see and buy.  As a Scottish-based jewellery designer with customers mainly based in the north of the country, I believe IJL will give me the platform I need to promote my growing business not only to buyers in the south, but also to potential customers from abroad.  I am very excited about exhibiting in the Design Gallery for the first time,” said designer maker Jackie Selcraig.

Other cutting edge new exhibitors include SuShilla in the Design Gallery, an iconic destination at IJL, and Design CLD in the Jewellery Solutions zone. Peter Cunningham, senior partner of Design CLD, identifies their reasons for coming to IJL: “We are exhibiting this year because we have designed some great shops for jewellery retailers and we want to make sure that other jewellers and jewellery brands can find out about the excellent service we offer. We hope to meet loads of new people and at the same time build a deeper understanding of jewellers needs.”

Latest collections...

The entire Boulevard dazzled at last year’s event, and IJL have announced headline exhibitors will feature, such as Shaun Leane, EMAGOLD, IBB, Antwerp Diamonds and Hans D Kreiger.

The extremely successful brand Chamilia will be showcasing their designs on two stands near the Boulevard Bar, which is the lively centre point of the show. Michael Flaherty, Vice President Business Development/Partner at Chamilia stated: “Chamilia considers the IJL 2010 London event to be the single most significant jewellery event within the UK and Ireland in 2010.  The IJL event has historically provided Chamilia with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with our UK and Ireland retailers as well as attract a significant amount of new business during the event.”

For leading Danish company Aagaard, there was no doubt about whether to have a presence at IJL:”Aagaard will of course be represented at International Jewellery London 2010. We will present our latest fashion news within jewellery for Autumn/Winter 2010, meet existing and new accounts and other co-operation partners. We find that IJL is the obvious and best place to present our brand – and to meet important players in the jewellery industry.” stated Malene Taylor, export manager of Aagaard.

Eastern Mystic were introduced to IJL in 2009 as part of the new KickStart programme, and this led to new accounts within the UK and as far afield as Japan. As a result, they are returning to the show in 2010 to exhibit:  “Being selected as part of the KickStart initiative definitely helped to get exposure to buyers across the globe. The support and advice I received from being a part of it was invaluable, and gave me the confidence to apply for my own stand this year. I'm really looking forward to exhibiting again at IJL 2010”.

decï is a collection of fine jewellery inspired by the treasures of ancient Trace and Byzantium, which will be unveiled at IJL for the first time this year. Working predominantly in rich 18ct gold, carved emeralds and colourful precious stones, the collection is reminiscent of the past, whilst retaining a modern and timeless feel.  Designer Dessy Tsolova commented:" I am excited to debut my fine jewellery collection decï for the first time at the IJL show. It is the perfect show for my brand and the best way to raise my brand profile. decï fine jewellery is a collection of beautifully hand crafted gold jewellery with distinctive and timeless feel; jewellery to be worn, treasured and handed down through the family"
