Flowers, Flowers Everywhere

This season, designers have injected florals into our clothing. Lucy Q’s new collection has injected it into our accessories as well.

Unusual items always inspire Lucy Q, from jigsaw pieces to crisps! For her latest silver jewellery collection, flowers were the inspiration. The idea originated from the button range she produces. She visited a shop in the north where she discovered a vast array of buttons. And from this, she was inspired to develop something commercial and contemporary.

Each different silver flower comes from studying little plastic flowers she found in a button shop. Lucy then casts each flower, in order to produce a silver version. Since the first floral piece, Lucy has since developed 17 different pieces of jewellery in the collection.
Lucy loves the fact that she’s used various types of floral buttons and integrated them into some great floral jewellery pieces. She also likes the fact the pieces are quite girly and seasonal. The range has proven to be very popular, especially the bangle and large necklet.

When Lucy was asked her opinion on how to wear the pieces, she said: ‘With Summer approaching, people want something to wear that will reflect the weather. I think these pieces look good with anything. The larger pieces would most likely be worn for evening wear and the smaller ones, for day wear.’

In terms of what’s to come from Lucy she responded: ‘There are always new pieces to be developed within this range. I do have a few ideas in the pipeline but nothing that is set in stone. Just keep watching this space.’
