The IJL Gold Award for Precious Jewellery was presented to the contemporary jewellery designer, John Moore, at the annual Goldsmiths’ Crafts and Design Competition, following on from which he was awarded the top accolade of the evening, The Goldsmiths’ Company Award for exceptional and outstanding design.
As part of IJL’s long standing commitment to nurture and promote new talent within the industry, the IJL Award attracted 113 entries making it one of the most popular categories of the competition, with entries for not only gold, platinum and palladium jewellery but also silver.
Moore’s winning Silver and Diamond Verto Necklace, adorned with twenty-nine diamonds, was acclaimed by the judges for its beautiful craftsmanship, fluidity and striking visual aesthetics. He received a cash prize and the necklace will be on display at IJL this September.
“I am absolutely thrilled to bits about the awards and pretty stunned by the whole experience. I was chuffed to be short listed for the silver jewellery category, it was an honour to be amongst such wonderful designers and craftspeople, but to actually win gold is amazing. Thank so much to IJL, all the judges, the Craft and Design Council and the Goldsmiths' Company. I'm the luckiest man I know!” says John Moore.
