F Hinds will work alongside the winners to develop their winning pieces to be sold exclusively at F.Hinds, with the potential for a guaranteed commission, in all of its 110 high street and shopping mall stores across the country, plus via its extensive online shopping store at www.fhinds.co.uk
The judging panel will be made up of Andrew Hinds – F. Hinds, Director and Gold Buyer; Bob Morrish – R. E. Morrish jewellery manufacturer; Sarah Jordan – Award Winning Jewellery Designer; an IJL and consumer representative.

Winner of the Student Designer Category for 2012
Pearl of Life - Marie Taylor
Inspiration and Description
The Pearl of Life pendant, created from sterling silver and cultured pearls, represents a new start – the opening of a new phase with the potential for growth represented by the pearls.
It is inspired by the fold forming technique, and the way the metal forms to itself pleases me. I wanted to create an elegant yet modern piece, suitable for day or evening wear.
Background
Not so long ago I was a legal secretary. I am now a 41 year old mature student embarking on a second career, enrolled on a Silversmithing and Jewellery B. A. course at Truro College in Cornwall. This is my chance to realise my own potential, to learn how to design and create the jewellery I love. I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with F. Hinds, to open up the potential for sales on the high street for my piece, and to plant lots of seeds in the hope they too will grow big and strong.
