And that's just scratching the surface of this incredible jewelry set's surreal history, which spans many decades and includes owners as diverse as the Holy See himself, a famous American daredevil, and even the United Nations. Most mystery novels don't have as many twists and turns as this intriguing tale, but as the saying goes, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction...
