The 1920s are roaring back into style with the release of The Great Gatsby. Here at IJL Towers we’re in awe of In Baz Lurhmann’s newest release. We adore the way the he’s managed to encapsulate the glitz, glamour, and rebellion of the Roaring Twenties, in his characters.
Flapper Style Luxury is back, oversized rings, jewelled brooches and beaded necklaces were popular in that era and we’re predicting a resurgence in 2013. Think big, bold pieces, dangling chandelier earrings, sparkling pendants and long strings of pearls.
TheTiffany & Co jewellery worn by Carey Mulligan on the set of The Great Gatsby was worth so much, that she had to be shadowed by a security guard. The jeweller created bespoke pieces for Mulligan's character, Daisy Buchanan, to wear throughout the film.
Based on designs from the Tiffany & Co. archives, Daisy wears tassel necklaces, jewels and pearls. At lavish parties she accessorises her sleek blonde bob with the Savoy, a headdress of diamonds and pearls, and wears diamond rings with the Tiffany setting. She’s also rarely seen without her hand jewellery, pearl bracelets, connected by diamond and pearl chains to a daisy-motif diamond and pearl plaque suspended over the back of the hand.

“The jewellery symbolizes the story’s themes of wealth and privilege, and we approached its design with the utmost style and luxury in mind,” Jon King, executive vice president of Tiffany & Co., said in a statement.
