24 Aug 2015

IJL have announced that the leading ethical entrepreneur, Liz Earle MBE, will be joining the high profile Fairtrade seminar debate on Tuesday, September 8, at the show.

Led by Shoba Mistry Head of Marketing at the Fairtrade Foundation, the session - ‘Making Fairtrade Work For you’ - will consider the challenges and opportunities for the industry as Fairtrade Gold sales increase and small artisanal mines benefit. The two other members of the Panel will be Amali Bunter, Commercial Director at Waitrose, outlining why they work with Fairtrade, and Michael Donaldson of The Value Innovator, a supply chain expert, explaining how Fairtrade can work for jewellery businesses.

Liz Earle MBE, Ethical Entrepreneur, explains: “I'm delighted to be supporting the Fairtrade Foundation with the introduction of my own certified Fairtrade gold jewellery collection in collaboration with Cred. Having spent the last 20 years working with sustainability for botanical ingredients, I know what a vital difference ethical sourcing makes to local communities, especially in developing countries. The more I learn about the mining of precious metals, the clearer I find Fairtrade certification as an important part of progress. Fairtrade gold for jewellery is something consumers are increasingly aware of - and its value is definitely increasing."

Sam Willoughby, IJL Show Director, added “This year, we have even more seminars and one-to-one advice clinics featuring more than 40 high profile industry experts and speakers such as Laura Tenison, Founder of the global multi-channel brand, JoJo Maman Bébé, and Sally Heath, Ecommerce Director of New Look. This debate on hot topic Fairtrade promises to help bring the industry’s attention to the difference we can make with forethought to lives all over the world. We are delighted to welcome all our knowledgeable speakers to the rostrum to discuss this interesting topic.”
