Kickstart benefits and criteria

  • KickStart 2016 - applications are now open!

    Applications for KickStart 2016 are now open. The following two initiatives will apply to the 2016 competition:

    1. Tailored mentoring provided by the NAJ, post IJL, especially developed for each KickStart designer.

    2. Ten KickStart places will be chosen from all entries. The public will then be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite KickStarter 'The People's Choice' who will be given a free stand at the 2016 show.

  • Designers will benefit from

    • Exhibiting with like-minded designers on a group stand in IJL's prestigious Design Gallery
    • IJL training day (covering marketing, PR and maximising participation at events) and a pre-event planning session
    • Post IJL mentoring from the NAJ (further details in due course)
    • NAJ advice regarding intellectual property and pricing
    • Pre and post event promotion and PR
    • Exposure on the IJL website (exhibitor listing which includes product gallery)
    • Support from experts (IJL Event team / NAJ and industry consultant Aldyth Crowther)
    • Exposure to IJL's 10,000 strong buying audience
  • Participation Criteria

    • Product must be designed and made in the UK
    • Participating designers must have the capability to take and fulfill orders from retailers
    • Participants will be required to join the NAJ or be existing NAJ Members - please visit for more information
    • Product must be design led
    • Precious and non precious jewellery is acceptable
    • All precious jewellery must be hallmarked where appropriate
    • Designers must not have previously exhibited independently at IJL
    • The business must have been in existence for less than 5 years
    • Participants will be required to attend the IJL training day and the pre event planning meeting
    • Participants will be required to send a post show report regarding business done at the show

    Please be aware that the KickStart workshop will be taking place on 12th May and you will be required to attend.

  • Costs and How to Enter

    Exhibiting: £705 +VAT
    BJA Membership: £165 +VAT
