International Jewellery London’s Michael Heywood has announced he will be doing a charity sky dive just before this year’s event opens. He is taking on the brave challenge to raise money for Retail Trust, the only charity that looks after the needs of all three million people working in retail, and children’s charity Together for Short Lives.
“The whole IJL team are really excited about the show this year, and I thought this would be the ideal way to celebrate the start of the event and to raise money for two great charities. IJL is an important show for retailers, and Retail Trust gives extra support to people working in all retail sectors who need it. Sponsorship money will also go to a children’s charity which I support personally, Together for Short Lives. Please sponsor me – and wish me luck!” stated UK Sales Executive, Michael Heywood.
The sky dive is taking place on 25th August, ahead of International Jewellery London 2012 which runs from 2nd-5th September.
Both charities expressed their delight at the news of the sky dive. Nigel J L Rothband, Chief Executive of Retail Trust said: “A big thank you to Michael for choosing Retail Trust as one of the chosen charities to benefit from his sky dive. Employees in the jewellery industry are just a small proportion of the three million people we look after in retail. The money he raises will help Retail Trust to continue to provide these people with a safety net. Let’s hope he won’t be needing one of those during his jump!”
Helen Hopkins, National Events Manager at Together for Short Lives commented: “We are delighted that Michael has chosen to support Together for Short Lives and hope he has an amazing time taking part in this breathtaking challenge. The money raised by sponsoring Michael will improve the lives of seriously ill children and their families and ensure they have the care and support they need, wherever they live and for as long as they need it.” The IJL team are calling on the jewellery industry to sponsor Michael Heywood to help him raise money for both charities.
